![]() It's time to start our list of 'resources'. When we think of the word 'resource', it conjures up ideas of books we can read and support groups we can join ... very important places to go for inspiration, sharing, support and helpful ideas. But, for me, there have been a few unconventional resources, too. I am going to start our list with one of them. If you have not heard of The Compassionate Friends (TCF), let me first tell you that TCF is an organization that supports bereaved families after the death of a child. They have more than 650 chapters with locations in all 50 states, as well as Washington DC, Puerto Rico, and Guam. You notice, the group they support is 'families' - that includes us!
One offering of TCF is a closed group on Facebook solely for bereaved grandparents. I joined the group and have found it to be like having someone who 'gets it' available 24/7. Because it is a closed group, you have to request membership - there's a button for that. All content stays private to group members - violate the terms and you're out. I appreciate knowing that I can express myself without judgment and get a few virtual hugs in return. Here are friends you'll want on Facebook, for sure. Who'd have thought it? Interested in checking out TCF's website? Here is their homepage address: http://www.compassionatefriends.org/home.aspx Want to jump straight to Facebook to check out TCF - Loss of a Grandchild? Go to: https://www.facebook.com/groups/421759177998317/ Maybe I'll see you there. Hugs.
