![]() The sight out my back window took my breath away. Cardinals ... baby cardinals. There were so many tiny, red-tinted birds in my cherry tree that I stood in amazement for several moments before I was brought back to reality. I counted. There were no less than 28 of the plump little creatures smattered among the branches. Pardon the photo quality, but I had to capture the moment and the only device nearby was my tablet - quick ... get a photo before they fly away. As I've noted in prior posts, I am a big believer in signs, gifts given to us from our loved ones. One of the signs I recognize most frequently is the appearance of a cardinal. Now, in my tree, sat more than 28 of them. What was their message? ![]() At first I thought the birds were ganging up on me to get something written, but after papa cardinal made his appearance - not too close to the babies - on a sturdy spot, high near the trunk of the tree, I figured it out. Obviously, he was watching over them. We've entered the liturgical season of Advent - a time to 'prepare the way' for the coming of Jesus' birth, a time of reflection and quiet thought. I've been also reading about intuition, or as I like to think of it, the Holy Spirit, enlightening me with insight. In addition, I've been busy helping my daughter with the printing/publishing of her children's book. One of my favorite drawings in the book is on a page that reads, 'Stella has many friends.' In the story, Stella is my granddaughter, Kitty Rose. The artwork depicts three little kitty-angels playing together in the clouds. The timing of Advent, studying intuition, the recent focus on Kitty's story ... these plump, not-yet red birds entwined all three. I stood and watched the baby cardinals together in the tree, under the watchful eye of their father for several minutes. This - to me - is the gift of knowing that my precious Kitty, along with many of your children and grandchildren, are together in heaven, with God, our Father, caring for them. It was a moment of realization, hope and love.
